Depression

How can therapy help with Depression? Everyone has experienced feelings of depression at one time or another. These feelings commonly follow loss or disappointment and they usually pass in a few hours or days. However, when depressive feelings persist and interfere with one's health, work and social well-being, some sort of intervention or professional help is needed.

When you see a mental health practitioner when you are experiencing symptoms of depression, it can help by:

  • Having a place to share your feelings and explore underlying causes of your depressed mood
  • Having someone help you monitor your depressed feelings
  • Learning some new ways of overcoming depression and regaining your energy, optimism, and zest for life
  • Helping you set realistic goals
